Q: I've seen news reports and television commercials about electronic cigarettes. What are they?
A: An electronic cigarette (or e-cig) is a device that simulates the smoking of tobacco cigarettes. It provides nicotine to the user by vaporizing a liquid contained in the mouthpiece.

Q: Is there tobacco in an electronic cigarette? Can I put tobacco in it?
A: There is no tobacco; the cartridges hold a solution containing nicotine and flavorings. The nicotine is derived from the tobacco plant, but tobacco cannot be used to refill them.

Q: How do e-cigs work?
A: The mouthpiece holds a cartridge containing a nicotine solution. It plugs into an atomizer connected to a rechargeable battery.

When the battery switch is activated, a coil of wire inside the atomizer heats up. This coil of wire vaporizes the nicotine solution, allowing the user to inhale the vapor.

Q: I've heard that you can smoke these anywhere, even on airplanes, is that true?
A: We don't recommend using these devices where smoking is prohibited. Common sense is required in most situations. When in doubt, ask. I have had no problem using my e-cig in stores, restaurants and bars. A polite approach and quick explanation can be all you need.

Q: A friend of mine ordered one of the starter kits from another company. They said it was free, but enrolled her in an automatic monthly refill program. It's been months and she is still trying to get the monthly charge on her credit card removed. Does Valley Vapor have a similar refill program?
A: We only bill you for what you order. There are no automatic refill programs or hidden charges. Our refill liquid is available in 10ml or 30ml bottles. This provides our customers with the best possible price for refilling their cartridges.

Q: Refilling? Sounds hard, I don't want to get involved in something that's going to be difficult.
A: It's really quite simple, and just takes seconds. When the cartridge needs refilling, remove it from the device. Shake up the bottle of liquid, and drip liquid into the dry cartridge. Plug the cartridge back in, and you're ready to go.

Q: I'm thinking about buying one for my spouse because I hate the stink of cigarettes! Will electronic cigarettes stink up my house and car?
A: No, the vapor from an e-cig dissipates within a few feet of the user. It leaves no residual smells or stains on skin or clothing.

Q: What is the e-liquid made of? I have heard there is antifreeze in them!
A: This is a major point of confusion, and is frequently incorrectly stated in news reports. The poisonous chemical in antifreeze is ethylene glycol.  The main component of e-liquid is propylene glycol.   Propylene glycol is also abbreviated as PG, and is in thousands of products. PG is generally recognized as safe by the FDA.

Q: I've been looking all over, and I'm still confused. Which one should I get?
A: We recommend the Joye 510 starter kit for new users. It is simple to operate, inexpensive to replace parts, and will give you the best idea of what vaping is all about.

The Joye eGo starter kit is the 510's big brother. It sports a larger battery capacity than the 510 and can be used longer without recharging.

Each of these kits also have a tank cartridge option. The tank cartridges can be a lot better than the standard cartridges to use, but they can also require more "fiddling".

Q: Vaping? Vaper? Vapor?
A: Well, when you smoked cigarettes you were a smoker. As a person using an electronic cigarette, you're inhaling vapor not smoke. That makes users of e-cigs "vapers".

Q: I see all kinds of liquid strengths and flavors, How do I know what to get? How do I know how much I need?
A: E-liquids are available on our site in 10ml and 30ml sized bottles.   In terms of nicotine content, a 10ml bottle is equivalent to a carton of traditional cigarettes.

Generally speaking, heavier smokers use the stronger liquids.   Smokers of full flavor brand cigarettes will enjoy the 18mg or 24mg liquids. Light cigarette brand smokers will want to stick to the 11mg or 18mg liquids.

A higher nicotine content will usually have a larger "throat hit", the way the vapor feels when inhaled.

Q: I'm still confused. Can you help?
A: We'd love to. There are a number of ways you can get in touch with us.   Come visit us on Facebook, the ECF forum, chat on Skype, or send us an email.  There is also a telephone number on the business cards sent with your order.   Feel free to use any of those methods.
